Pet slogana reformacije

Our vision and mission is based on Biblical teaching and God’s command to build Christ Kingdom and promote the Gospel:

Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ ” Mat 28:18-20.

Our mission is directed to help in spiritual renewal and building up of those seeking God. Those who are being called to His Kingdom!

We also desire to build up and strengthen believers in truths of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God. We are doing that through Christian based teaching grounded in the Bible, Reformation theology and Presbyterian polity in Croatian Language within the Republic of Croatia. In that respect we are Reformation Christ centered, mission and discipleship minded Church. Our identity is derived from the 16th century Christian Reformation, with focus on Bible based preaching, teaching and piety.

The Reformation Christianity has been present in Croatian since 16th century till today. The first communities were established around 1540, the first Synod was 1550. At the first Lutheranism was stronger and bigger, but later on Calvinism. The destiny of Reformations in Croatian was determined by the Counter-Reformation since the second half of the 16th century. The law in 1604 prohibited of religious freedom, and enforced assimilation of Croatian Reformation believers. The Edict of Tolerance by Joseph II in 1781 guaranteed limited freedom of conscience to Protestants, and Croatian Parliament confirmed that 1859. And from that time till coming of Communism there was growth. During the Yugoslav Communist oppression and repression (1945-1991) many of Reformation congregations and schools has been destroyed or stolen by Communist. These days there are no restrictions on freedom of religion in Croatia, and everybody can freely Worship and promote his religion.

A total of 91.9% of citizens are nominally religious, which includes various religions and movements, with 4.71% being atheist or non-religious, 1.68% being agnostic or sceptic, and 1.72% undecided. The breakdown by religious denomination of the population is: Catholic 78.9%, Orthodox 3.32%, Muslim 1.32%, and other 8.36%.

The total number of Protestants in 2011 was 14,653 (0.34%), and in 2021 it is 9,956 (0.26%), with almost all denominations recording a decline in the number of members. There are approximately 50 different denominations.

Croatian people rejected Yugoslav Communistic and totalitarian state 1991. These days The Republic of Croatia is full member of UN, NATO, EU, The Council of Europe, WTO etc.

As far as we as congregation are concern we are always looking for believers called to join with us to build God’s Kingdom in Croatia, both long-term and short-term. Those interested should have a desire to serve and work with the national leadership and be able to integrate in Croatian culture.

–Our Core Beliefs And Confessions–

We believe in one God in three persons (The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit).

The Lord Jesus Christ is the one and only Savior, Redeemer and Mediator of God’s salvation and grace. Anyone who believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth will be saved.

The Bible is the true and unchangeable Word of God and the revelation of God’s will. Believers are encouraged to read, study, reflect and promote the Word of God.

Prayer is essential component of spiritual life and the spiritual renewal of every believer. Prayer is to be spoken in simple and understandable words, addressed to God, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Repentance and conversion are the foundation of spiritual life with God. Repentance and conversion happen throughout our whole life, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Church is a community of chosen and called believers. The congregation is guided by elders a group of called and elected believers. We believe in the following pastoral services: presbyters-elders, preachers/teachers and deacons.

In accordance with their capabilities, knowledge, abilities and gifts, believers are called to live and promote the God’s values in personal, family, business and social life.

We promote marriage as a union of a man and a woman. Parents are called to raise their children with their faithful example. For people opting to stay single, we promote a pure and congenial life.

We believe in eternal life which begins with grace and the gift of faith during our earthly life, and continues after our resurrection upon the return of Christ.

We confess the core beliefs of Christianity found in the Apostolic Creed, the Nicene-Constantinople Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Caledonians Creed.

Our doctrine and interpretations are based on the generally accepted reformation catechisms and confessions. These are not the Bible, that is, they do not have the status of the Word of God. And they are summarized through the Five Solas of the Reformation!
